Dr Christopher Bolton

GP Partner (MB ChB DRCOG FP Cert)

Dr Christopher Bolton joined the Practice in 2002 and his special interest is in Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine. He is the Practice Senior Partner and has a number of lead roles, including the lead for prescribing, safeguarding, cancer and research. He is also an F2 (junior doctor) trainer and is the clinical supervisor for our Physician Associate trainees and supports our Physician Associate colleagues on a day to day basis with the rest of the GP team.

Dr Liam Grant


Dr Liam Grant joined the Practice in 2002 and is a GP partner. He is a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and the treasurer of the Local Medicine Committee (LMC). He is responsible for the Teaching and Supervision of GP Trainee Doctors. 

Dr David Mortimer

GP Partner (MB ChB DRCOG)

Dr David Mortimer joined the Practice in 2004 and his special interest is in Information Technology (IT) and is the practice Caldicott Guardian. Dr Mortimer has an interest in care of the elderly and provides GP support to the Enhanced Health in Care home work. 

Dr Thomas Brettell

GP Partner (MB BS)

Dr Thomas Brettell joined the Practice in 2014. He  GP partner. Dr Brettell qualified from University College London in 1999. He is a local GP Appraiser and has a keen interest in Diabetes. 

Dr Luchuan Lin

GP Partner (MB ChB Hons)

Dr Luchuan Lin joined the Practice in 2017 as a salaried GP. She completed her final year GP Training with us and has been a renowned member of the team since. Dr Lin has an interest in women's health. Dr Lin is also a junior doctor supervisor.

Dr Paul Kenton

GP Physician Associate (BSc (Hons), PgDip, PgDip, PA-R, DMSc, RSci, FIBMS, FADPA)

Dr Paul Kenton joined the practice in 2016. Prior, he worked as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Clinical Biochemistry & Metabolic Medicine in Liverpool, before post-graduate Physician Associate education at Liverpool Medical School, as part of the national expansion program. He is a registered scientist, Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science and holds a Doctor of Medical Science in the Advanced Clinical Practice of Primary Care & Family Medicine. He has extended skills in difficult venous access, clinical biochemistry, endocrinology, medical education and audit. He is a Senior Lecturer at a local Medical School. He is the surgery GP Veterans' clinical lead.

Ms Abigail Jenkinson

GP Physician Associate (BSc (Hons), PgDip, PA-R)

Ms Abigail Jenkinson joined the practice as a Physician Associate in 2019. She originally studied an Anatomy and Human Biology degree at University of Liverpool, followed by completion of post-graduate training as a Physician Associate. She has a specialist interest in female reproductive and sexual health. Abigail is also the lead clinician responsible for delivering the Formby Enhanced Health in Care Home lead as well as supervising and mentoring the junior Physician Associates in the team.

Ms Rose Meehan

Physician Associate (BSc (Hons), MSc)

Ms Rose Meehan joined the practice in 2021. She originally studied Psychology at the University of Liverpool. Following this, she has recently completed post-graduate Masters training in Physician Associate Studies at Edge Hill Medical School.

Mr Karl Balicusto

Physician Associate (BSc (Hons), MSc)

Mr Karl Balicusto joined the practice in 2021. He originally studied in Leeds Beckett University completing a Biomedical Sciences degree. Following this, he has recently completed post-graduate Masters training in Physician Associate Studies at Edge Hill Medical School.

Sister Emily Furnivall

Practice Nurse

Sister Emily Furnivall joined the practice in January 2021, offering childhood vaccinations, adult vaccinations, cervical screening and chronic disease management. She has a first class honours degree in Adult Nursing which she studied at Edge Hill University. She has previously worked as an A&E nurse, a district nurse and a Specialist Dementia and Delirium nurse.

Sister Diane Furnivall

Adult Health Visitor

Sister Diane Furnivall is our Adult Health Visitor and supports our frail elderly population. She does a lot of outreach work for housebound patients and care-home patients. She undertakes home visits, monitoring social isolation and works closely with Third Sector Colleagues to support a number of vulnerable groups and supports safeguarding.

Health Care Assistants (HCA)

The Health Care Assistants support the practice nurses with their daily work. They can take blood, perform ECGs, test urine, measure BP, height & weight and they can also give advice on healthy lifestyles, weight monitoring, and smoking cessation.

Dawn Sixsmith (HCA)

Dawn Sixsmith supports clinicians in her role as Healthcare Assistant. She supports our clinicians in the paediatric phlebotomy clinic

Joanne Bennett (HCA)

Joanne Bennett supports clinicians in her role as Healthcare Assistant. She takes the lead on 24-hour blood pressure monitoring.

Karen Foster (GPA)

Karen Foster supports the Freshfield acute team in her role as GP Assistant.


Pharmacy Team 

Mrs Erika Setzu - Pharmacist PharmaD (Hons) PgDip MPhil IP

Mrs Erika Setzu (PharmaD(Hons) PGDipClinPharm MPhil IP) is our Practice Pharmacist. She is a Prescribing Pharmacist and is responsible for supporting the GP's with Medication Reviews. 


Mrs Elizabeth Reeves - Pharmacy Technician

Mrs Elizabeth Reeves is our Pharmacy Technician and is responsible for the management of repeat prescriptions and organising the required monitoring of support safe prescribing. She also is responsible for arranging regular blood tests for medication monitoring purposes and also keeps medication reviews up to date as noted on prescriptions.


Extended Clinical Team 

District Nurses

The district nursing team work with us to provide nursing care and support to our patients in their own home. The district nurses may be contacted by calling their own office on 01704 387212. Their out of hours number is 01704 531978. The district nurses work closely with the palliative care team where the need arises.


The Practice has an ante-natal clinic every Friday afternoon. Appointments for this can be booked at reception or over the Telephone.
