LGBTQ+ Patient Support

At The Village Surgery Formby, we are committed to providing safe, respectful, and inclusive care for all patients, including those who identify as LGBTQ+.

We recognise that LGBTQ+ patients may experience additional barriers when accessing healthcare. Our aim is to ensure patients feel listened to, supported, and treated with dignity and respect.

Support Available

Our team provides non-judgemental care and support in relation to:

  • Sexual health and contraception
  • Gender identity and transition-related care
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Hormone therapy and referrals to specialist services
  • Healthy relationships and domestic abuse support

Patients are welcome to share their preferred name and pronouns, which we will use wherever possible.

NHS Screening Information

Changing the gender marker on your medical record can affect how you are automatically invited for certain NHS screening programmes, such as cervical, breast, or prostate screening. These invitations are based on the gender recorded in your GP record.

Before making any changes, we strongly recommend reviewing the NHS screening guidance for trans patients and discussing this with your GP. This helps ensure you continue to receive appropriate screening based on your individual needs and sex assigned at birth.

Trans Health Sefton

Trans Health Sefton is a local GP-led service providing assessment, support, and referral for trans and gender-diverse patients registered with a Sefton GP.

Support may include care planning, referral to specialist services, and hormone therapy where appropriate.
